This is TAIL of the THUNDERBIRD, it is a White Buffalo Turquoise, Sterling Silver ring, made in a Native American southwestern style. It is an artisan created and hand fabricated piece. This Sterling silver ring I have handcrafted to be a size 7 1/2.
...White Buffalo turquoise is mined in Nevada. It is quite a rare stone and to my knowledge, no other deposit has been found outside of Nevada. The black parts of the stone are the natural black chert matrix. This is Natural and untreated, this is a beautiful piece of White Buffalo.
...I have crafted this ring by hand, in my workshop/studio in Rural Oklahoma. The stone is encased in a fine silver bezel and then I surrounded the bezel with silver "drops of dew". I call them that because when you are melting silver to make raindrops or dewdrops, they are actually liquid at one point and they melt into a ball in their liquid state. They are shiney and when at their hottest, they have that surface tension and roll around like drops of water. It is really cool to watch, and still fascinates me after all these years of working with Sterling silver.
... The THUNDERBIRD tail is hand formed, and shaped to fit the stone. All the work is done in my shop using my collection of traditional silversmithing hand tools.
... I have used a heavy weight of silver on this ring, but it is not too heavy on the hand. I have enjoyed creating this ring and I hope the person who buys this ring enjoys wearing it, as much as I enjoyed creating it! It's a beautiful ring, comfortable and gorgeous on the hand.
